Bassi takes up the helm at the European Commission

Ugo Bassi has been appointed head of unit for asset management in DG Markt, replacing Niall Bohan, and in turn will take over the lead for the discussion of structured products in the context of other retail investment products in Europe.

The Bohan-led team had reached the point where the creation and implementation of a horizontal directive in tandem with Mifid would be introduced by the end of this year to govern the creation and sale of all retail investment products sold in the European Union. Bassi will also continue the European Commission's work on the Directive on Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM).
