Lowenstein brings in derivatives expertise

Lowenstein has taken on Sherri Venokur as part of its investment management group. Venokur will be chair of the New York-based law firm’s derivatives practice group. Her appointment marks a move by Lowenstein to become more involved in the derivatives industry, which has also seen the firm become a member of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (Isda).

Venokur joins from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, also a New York-based law firm, where she worked for six years in the derivatives and commodities and structured finance practices as Special Counsel. Her work included dealing with equity, interest rate and commodity derivative transactions.

Prior to this, Venokur worked in a variety of roles at New Lehman Brothers in New York for just under eight years. Her final position at the bank was global head of derivatives documentation, focussing on
