BIS seeks replacement for Crockett

BASEL - The Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the so-called central bankers' central bank, said in September it had set up a committee to help find a replacement for BIS general manager Andrew Crockett who leaves the bank at the end of March next year.

The BIS plans to name the successful candidate in January, 2003.

Candidates for the job must show proven independence and personal integrity along with outstanding management skills and a high stature in the international financial community, as well as a strong background in dealing with issues faced by central banks, the BIS said.
