BIS publishes raft of papers

The Bank for International Settlements published online a number of papers that cover a variety of aspects of the Basel II proposals. The papers were presented at a workshop organized by the Basel Committee and the Banca D'Italia in late March.

The papers, with titles such as “Bank Capital and Lending Behavior: Empirical Evidence for Italy”, “Bank Buffer Capital: How important is risk?”, and “Analysis of procyclical effects on capital requirements derived from a rating system” focus on important aspects of the credit risk capital requirement under Pillar I of the revised Basel Accords. The next consultation paper from the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision is expected to be released in May.
