Governor of the central bank of Malaysia to focus on risk management

Governor Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz of the central bank in Malaysia (Bank Negara Malaysia) has delivered a speech detailing monetary and financial policies in the Asian network economy, where he emphasised business continuity and risk management as central to the bank’s strategy for economic stability.

Aziz stated that closer regulatory oversight is particularly important in ensuring the strength of the risk management framework of large and complex financial institutions that are active in cross-border transactions. To achieve this, the bank is enhancing its framework for the management of operational risks among such financial institutions, with the introduction of sound practices. The bank's framework has also been enhanced to ensure that financial institutions address the risk
