Finding the right CIO

Defining what a CIO is and does is probably an easier task than specifying the skills and personality of the right person for the role in an organisation. Each enterprise will have different needs and expectations.

Perhaps a good starting point is for the organisation to ask itself whether it is looking for a CIO or a head of IT. In other words, is there a need to hire a business leader with a strong appreciation of IT or someone with strong technical skills? However, if the corporate
