The nuclear family

Uranium, an essential component in nuclear fuel generation, is a hot commodity right now. After languishing below $20 a pound (lb) for the best part of 20 years, the spot uranium price took off dramatically in 2002, surging from $10/lb to $50/lb by the end of 2006. By February 2007 it was $75/lb and on February 21 it jumped $10 to $85/lb, making it one of the most volatile commodities around. What's more, the price is expected to continue rising as supply struggles to keep up with demand
