Selling natural gas options on a market that is adhering closely to a seasonal tendency can be a powerful strategy for an option seller, write James Cordier and Michael Gross
It's interesting to note that despite all the "market-moving" news events of this year - hurricanes, fear of inadequate supply builds for winter, terrorist threats, shipping delays and refinery shutdowns - energy markets have almost uncannily continued to follow their normal seasonal tendencies.
Perhaps this is because although these news stories and macro-economic factors are important, they primarily deal with supply issues. The other side of the equation is demand. The ebb and flow of demand
