Canada looks set to unveil some form of emissions trading scheme this year. Initial announcements regarding government-mandated emissions cuts are expected in March, before more detailed measures are announced when the Canadian government presents its budget in April.

Several Canadian exchanges are now looking to develop markets for carbon credits.
