Rob Collins has joined Morgan Stanley's securitisation team from his previous role as chief financial officer for the investment bank's UK mortgage lender - Advantage. His new role will help the firm feed capital markets intelligence into its product strategy more effectively, he tells Rob Mannix

As everyone knows, investment banks don't buy mortgages because they want to own them, but because they want to sell them. When selling becomes difficult (as it has for all lenders at present), bringing the two processes closer together can have obvious benefits.

Rob Collins' recent move from the Cheshire offices of Advantage to the securitisation team at the lender's owner, Morgan Stanley, in London's Canary Wharf, shows how tight those links have become.
