Italian regulator takes CDS data

The Italian securities market regulator, Commissione Nazionale per la Societa e la Borsa (Consob), is to receive credit default swap (CDS) data from GFI Group, the interdealer broker. The two signed a contract last month which commits GFI to providing Consob with intraday files containing details of all CDS trades it processes.

Consob would not comment on its use of this information, but an industry source believes it will be used to improve the regulator's oversight of over-the-counter
