Bank of America loses global markets head in Asia

Goetz Eggelhoefer, former managing director and head of global markets, Asia, at Bank of America in Singapore, has left to join the Rohatyn Group, an emerging market hedge fund started by ex-JP Morgan Chase trader Nick Rohatyn.

Based in Singapore, Eggelhoefer is one of two Asia-based partners brought in to set up the group’s Asian operations. The other partner is Bong Consing, previously co-head of investment banking at JP Morgan. Eggelhoefer had also run Asian trading for JP Morgan before its merger with Chase Manhattan Bank.

Following his departure, Bank of America has restructured Eggelhoefer’s position and split it into four divisions, focusing on debt capital raising, sales structuring and trading in Asia. The four new roles are filled by John Liles, managing director and head of debt capital raising, Asia; Alvin Chua, managing director and head of institutional sales, Asia; Edwin Png, managing director and head of debt markets, Japan and Greater China; and Scott Jung, managing director and head of debt markets, Korea and South Asia.

The four executives report directly to Colm McCarthy, president of Bank of America, Asia, and Arrington Mixon, head of debt, international, who is based in London.Liles and Jung are based in Singapore, and Chua and Png are based in Hong Kong.
