Fitch spins off derivatives ratings

London- and New York-based ratings firm Fitch has spun off its derivatives operations into a new subsidiary, Derivative Fitch.

Fitch said as the derivatives market grew there was a need for greater transparency, and investors and regulators were questioning whether traditional credit ratings completely addressed the risks involved.

Derivative Fitch consolidates the firm’s global collateralised debt obligation and structured credit ratings groups, along with various other analytical products focused on derivatives. It also brings together its entire derivatives ratings services on a single online interface.
