US NPR on Basel II delayed again

Yet another blow for capital Accord implementation process

WASHINGTON, DC – The 'official' publication of the notice of proposed rulemaking (NPR) in the US for the implementation of Basel II is likely to be delayed until August or early September, according to several industry sources close to regulators.

The delay is only the latest blow for the Basel II implementation process in the US, which has been beset by problems that have ranged from political infighting among the different regulatory authorities to skewed data from quantitative impact study
