Draft EU directive threatens hedge funds

BRUSSELS - European hedge funds are under attack from draft legislation from the European Union. The proposal for a directive on alternative investment fund managers, made public at the end of April, has been lambasted by a range of international and national organisations, including the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), the Hedge Funds Standards Board and the US Managed Funds Association, as well as individuals in the industry.
