New US op risk conference announced

BOSTON -- US regulators are about to announce a new operational risk conference, to be held in May 2005. The event is widely perceived to be a sequel to the op risk conference they held in May 2003 in New York -- which solidified much of the thinking around operational risk.

The 2005 conference will be held on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20 in Boston, hosted by the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. It will be titled Implementing advanced measurement approach operational risk management programmes, according to Eric Rosengren, senior vice-president at the Boston Fed.

The programme will include panels on the various regulatory initiatives US regulators are undertaking, including the benchmarking programme, the loss data collection
