Basel II package rapporteur named

BRUSSELS – Alexander Radwan has been named the rapporteur for the package of Basel II legislation winding its way through the European parliament. Radwan, who is a member of the European parliament and a member of the European People’s party and the European Democrats, and who represents Bavaria in Germany, was the rapporteur for the Basel II legislation in the previous European Parliamentary session.

Radwan has held hearings and produced a report on the subject as the legislation wound its way through the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the EU Commission.

According to sources within the European parliament, a draft report on the proposed Capital Adequacy Directive and related portions of the Consolidated Banking Directive legislation is going to be produced in October, although the timing of this report is ultimately up to Radwan.
