UK Insurance - FSA slammed over "impossible" unit-linked derivatives rules

Industry players have attacked the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) over its 'permitted links' restrictions on unit-linked life business, amid fears that the UK supervisor is seeking to add these restrictions to Solvency II. Some observers claim that the FSA's attitude is causing providers of unit-linked products, especially variable annuities, to set up their businesses in Dublin and Luxemburg.

Life companies are complaining because the revised permitted links rules brought in by the FSA
