Advisers look to OpenSky

OpenSky Capital distributes products structured by foreign banks to Canada's adviser and dealer network. By spurning domestic banks in favour of foreign innovation, the company has become a leading player in the Canadian market. Daniel Sheehan reports

OpenSky Capital distributed C$1 billion of structured products in 2006, giving it approximately 7% of the C$15 billion retail market in Canada. In order to differentiate itself from the large Canadian banking groups with a retail distribution power base, OpenSky only distributes products that are released in partnership with foreign banks - primarily JP Morgan, Societe Generale and Citigroup.

"We have focused on bringing the innovation seen in other markets to the Canadian market,' says OpenSky
