Risk Management Inc signs four utility clients

Risk Management Inc (RMI), a Chicago-based energy consultancy and brokerage, has signed up four new utility customers for its energy risk management and hedging services. The City of Glendale Water & Power and Pasadena Water & Power, both in California, Greenville Utilities in North Carolina and Clark Public Utilities in Washington state have all become RMI customers in the past month.

RMI is conducting reviews of the four municipalities’ risk management programmes for electricity and natural gas, including risk policy assessments, procedural development and hedge strategy design.

As part of its reviews, RMI is evaluating policy for the inclusion of industry best practices. It is setting up internal control infrastructures for price and credit risk mitigation, and developing structured hedge plans for managing fuel input costs.
