Exelon moves for NRG
Continuing the recent trend for mergers and acquisitions in the energy sector, Chicago-headquartered based Exelon has announced details of a $6.2 billon proposal to acquire New Jersey-based NRG Energy. If the deal goes ahead, the combined companies would have a total enterprise value of approximately $60 billion and a generating capacity of approximately 47,000 megawatts - "enough to serve nearly 45 million homes," according to Exelon chairman and CEO John Rowe.
