More carbon caps for UK business

The UK government's White Paper on energy has proposed a domestic carbon trading scheme that targets the non-energy intensive sector.

The report reaffirms the government's support for the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) but notes that large, non-energy intensive public and private sector organisations such as hotel chains, supermarkets, banks, central government and large local authorities account for around 10% of the UK's emissions - and concludes that emissions trading could deliver
