Earnings grow 14% for energy risk professionals

Energy risk management professionals enjoyed an average 14% rise in pay during 2006, according to a survey conducted by Risk Talent Associates, a risk management executive search firm.

The 14% rise is significant, particularly given that past surveys showed only a 5% rise between 2004 and 2005. According to results, salaries increased an average of 8% and bonuses experienced double-digit growth across most job titles in 2006.

Risk Talent says that the overall boom in energy demand and the increased trading in financial markets around the globe is a key reason for the rise in compensation, adding that investment banks and hedge funds expanding into energy supply and trading put additional upward pressure on pay.
