Citigroup rebuilds Asia commodities team

Citigroup has made several recent hires to its Asia commodities team in Singapore, mostly on the energy side. The US bank has been looking to add to the division since the departure to Merrill Lynch in April 2005 of commodities head Mark Long and most of his team.

Aseem Agarwal will start next week as a commodities structurer, moving from World Bank in Washington, DC, where he was in the group responsible for the $225 billion multi-currency portfolio.

Terry Yang, meanwhile, joined as energy marketer in late July from industrial group Mitsui & Co in London, where he was an energy marketer. He also formerly worked for Citigroup in Taiwan.

Iain Lawson moved in June from Citi’s London office to manage the Asian distillates book. He has been with the bank
