First cleared Belgian OTC power trade

The first cleared over-the-counter Belgian electricity trade was concluded this morning, brokered by energy broker Spectron

The deal was a 5 megawatt Q3 ‘07 baseload transaction at €40.50/MWh, between Dutch utility Nuon and Belgian utility Electrabel. It was given up for clearing via Endex, the Amsterdam-based energy exchange, which launched clearing services for Belgian power today.

Spectron has been involved in a number of clearing firsts, including brokering the first cleared OTC coal deals. Last month Spectron launched the first intra-day OTC trading screen for French and German electricity.
