Electronic OTC commodities platform launched

Agora-X has launched an electronic communications network (ECN) for the negotiation of over-the-counter (OTC) transactions in commodity and derivative contracts.

The ECN has been designed to enable participants to obtain best prices in a more liquid and transparent OTC market. Agora-X, which was founded with seed money from commodity risk management firm FCStone Group, will also launch an exempt commercial market (ECM) for financially-settled option "look-alikes", swaps and swaptions in energy, metals and other non-agricultural commodities in January. In addition, the ECM will allow negotiation, execution and clearing of OTC trades in exempt commodities
