Peabody promotes head of US coal and emissions trading

Missouri-based coal company Peabody Energy has promoted Raphael Pierce to vice-president of trading at its Peabody Coaltrade subsidiary. He will continue to head up US coal and emissions trading, but with added responsibilities.

Pierce was previously director of trading responsible for US coal and emissions, but now assumes an expanded role in developing structured transactions with electricity generators and industrial companies.

He joined Peabody Coaltrade in 1999 as an over-the-counter trader. Before that, he held various fuel buying and trading roles at Atlanta-based Southern Company Generation.
