Nymex to offer soft commodities

The New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) has entered the soft commodity space with the launch of six new futures contracts on its ClearPort clearing and trading platform.

New contracts for cocoa, coffee, cotton, frozen concentrated orange juice and two separate sugar contracts are due to begin trading on December 21, the exchange said. It also hopes to list the contracts on Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME)’s Globex platform by the end of January 2007.

The initial contract month for the new Nymex products will be March 2007, with the exchange saying that it will waive all fees for the first six months, through June 2007.
