Das ökonomische Kapital ist ein Maß für den Eigenkapitalbetrag, den ein Unternehmen benötigt, um ein Risiko tragen zu können. Genau genommen handelt es sich um den Eigenkapitalbetrag, der notwendig ist, um die aus dem Risiko potenziell erwachsenden Verluste mit einem bestimmten Vertrauensniveau abdecken zu können.1 Viele große internationale Banken definieren das ökonomische Kapital zum Beispiel als den Eigenkapitalbetrag, der erforderlich ist, um Verluste in 99,97% der Zeit abzudecken.
