Meeting in Mexico agrees on new Basel II principles

International banking regulators endorsed 25 updated Basel core principles for banking supervision at a meeting in Mexico in October. At the biennial International Conference of Banking Supervisors, central bankers and officials from 120 countries approved the new principles and discussed other financial issues, including the implementation of Basel II.
