HK warrants off to flying start

The Hong Kong warrants market has burst back into life with a flurry of activity following the end of a seven-month lay-off. More than 50 warrants were launched on the first day of issuance on January 21, with large volumes expected to persist at least for the first few weeks, say market participants.

But some bankers warn that the flood of activity may be too much for the Hong Kong market to absorb over the next couple of weeks. “In the short term, the market can be characterised by one word –
