CME to launch renminbi futures in August

Chicago Mercantile Exchange sets out its stall in Asia

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) is to launch futures and options on futures on renminbi exchange rates against the US dollar, euro and the Japanese yen. The contracts will start trading on August 27, CME officials said at the opening of the exchange's Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong in late June.

The decision to launch new renminbi contracts, which will trade exclusively on CME's Globex electronic trading platform, was the result of global demand, said John Davidson, CME's managing
