Conferences further boost the profile of corporate governance

Two high-profile conferences on corporate governance at financial institutions were held during October in the US, highlighting the importance that the subject has received since the arrival on the scene of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in the US, and Basel II worldwide.

The first conference, titled Disclosure and market discipline of financial firms, was organised by Columbia Business School and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on October 2 and 3. The one-and-a-half day event
