UBS goes SQL: Union Bank of Switzerland has upgraded its version of Sungard Capital Markets' Devon Derivatives System, according to bank officials.
UBS is has now installed a newer version of Devon that relies on an SQL-based Sybase database to store its trades. The previous version of Devon used a proprietary data format (Derivatives Engineering & Technology, September 2).
Societe Generale: The London and Frankfurt offices of Societe Generale are installing a new interface that automatically links their front office position-keeping system with the EBS foreign exchange electronic broking system.
The EBS link was developed by Tantus, the London-based front office technology provider. SocGen uses the Tantus Dealing System to support its forex and money markets traders.

Object Design: Object Design has released a new add-on module for its Objectstore object-oriented database system.
The new module, dubbed Time Series Object Manager, allows database developers to store, search and retrieve time series-based objects such as yield curves and historical market data, according to a vendor spokesperson.
Clarification: Officials at Frankfurt-based Commerzbank have stressed that the bank has not ruled out extending its planned risk management data repository to cover other Commerzbank subsidiary companies, such as Commerz Financial Products.
