Algorithmics to launch Linux version of Algo Suite
Algorithmics of Canada, an enterprise risk management solutions provider, said today it will launch a fully supported Linux version of Algo Suite by the end of the third quarter of this year.
“Algorithmics completed its largest test of approximately nine billion valuations and 19 million exposure calculations on a Linux cluster of Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz CPUs running Red Hat Linux 7.3 in just over four hours," said the company in a statement.
“This and other tests confirmed that Algo Suite on Linux provides significant enhancements in both speed and scalability, and would allow clients to put additional computing resources without further implementation or configuration work required, thereby reducing total cost of ownership.”
The benchmarking tests were designed to measure the performance of a large credit risk simulation. The simulation priced each position across one thousand scenarios and a 30-year time horizon.
“On the heels of these benchmark results, Algorithmics renewed its commitment to support its Algo Market and Algo credit risk solutions on Linux by this fall," the statement continued. "This means that all of the risk management experts’ key simulation and analytical components will run on Red Hat Linux 7.3.”
The Linux version of Algo Suite will use New York-based software provider DataSynapse’s grid computing platform, LiveCluster 3G. Algorithmics originally announced its partnership with DataSynapse in Novemeber 2002.
