A handful of major hedge funds have been pursuing a campaign this year to gain access to interdealer platforms for currency options trading. But there has been strong resistance from banks, which claim the funds will have an unfair advantage. Jayne Jung reports

Hedge funds are looking to further encroach into an area traditionally occupied by dealers by pushing to gain access to interbank foreign exchange options platforms. The campaign, led by a number of large, high-profile hedge funds, including Chicago-based Citadel Investment Group, looks set to succeed, with the first dealer platforms likely to allow access to hedge funds before year-end.
