With 34 trading offices active in 40 countries, Swiss commodity trading house Trafigura is no small concern. But while the firm – perhaps best known for its oil, petroleum products and metals trading activities – employs some 600 energy traders worldwide, readers may not have heard much about it. That may be set to change, however, as the company embarks on something of a push in the electricity and natural gas trading markets.

And who better to lead the drive than energy markets veteran David Mooney, Trafigura’snew London-based head of power and natural gas trading? Mooney joined Trafigurafrom Bank of America (BoA), where he was the long-serving head of commodity derivatives.
