New central securities company to facilitate short selling in China

The establishment of a centralised securities financing company in China will enable Chinese securities companies to develop trading strategies based on short-selling individual stocks, allowing them to execute market-neutral and bearish trading strategies, according to James Yang, deputy head of the international business department of Everbright Securities in Shanghai.

The Chinese authorities have yet to make an official announcement about the establishment of a centralised securities
