Power and emissions exchange Nord Pool will launch power derivatives for the German and Dutch markets from 11 January 2008.

The exchange will offer peak and base derivative contracts for the German market and power base derivative contracts for the Dutch market, with Dutch peak contracts also planned should there be enough market demand.

The new products will include contracts for weeks, months, quarters and years in the respective markets. All contracts will be cash settled as forwards with the exception of weeks which will be settled as futures.
