Powernext selects Trayport for emissions trading, awaits CO 2 allocation

French electricity exchange Powernext will use software supplier Trayport’s Global Vision platform for CO 2 emissions trading, but is still waiting to start the spot emissions market it first announced in January.

The Paris-based exchange already uses Trayport software for its electricity futures contracts, so it was easy to configure the screens for Powernext Carbon, said Thierry Carol, director of marketing and sales at the exchange.

Powernext had said in January that it would launch a European spot CO2 market in March in conjunction with French state-owned investment bank Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations and pan-European exchange operator Euronext. But Powernext is still waiting for the French
