Nymex expands listings for gold and silver

The New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) will extend the length of long-dated gold and silver option contracts to 60 months from February 25. The previous limit was 24 months.

Gold options will be listed on a June/December cycle, with contracts available for those months up to 2008. Silver will be listed on a July/December cycle and will be available up to the same year.

“By expanding the availability of gold and silver options contracts to match the available long-dated futures contracts for these key precious metals, the exchange will make available additional opportunities for risk management and investment in these markets,” said Nymex president Robert Collins.
