Dow Jones tightens grip in the Gulf

Dow Jones Indexes and the Omani stock exchange, Muscat Securities Market (MSM) have launched the Dow Jones MSM Index, a total market index that measures the performance of all companies listed on the MSM.

The index, which includes 66 stocks, is designed to underlie financial products such as structured products and ETFs. The index universe is defined as all companies on the MSM that trade on at least 10 days in a quarter. Companies that trade fewer than seven days in a quarter will be deleted from the index.

The top five companies in the index by free float market capitalisation comprise Raysut Cement, National Bank of Oman, Bank Muscat, Oman Telecoms and Renaissance Services. Weights of
