This year's introduction of the deal of the year category has coincided with the signing of probably the biggest - and certainly the most complex - structured products trade. When Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) finally agreed to sell its £15 billion portfolio of around 20,000 products to BNP Paribas in November 2013, it was just the start of a process that is scheduled to come to an end early in 2015.
