Trade of the month: the Iosco structured products toolkit

International Organization of Securities Commissions wants to improve the regulation of retail structured products globally and is placing more emphasis on product design

In December last year, the International Organization of Securities Commissions (Iosco) published a report, Regulation of retail structured products, which introduced a toolkit of 15 items aimed at helping regulators when dealing with these investments.

The report is probably the most important global paper on structured products regulation yet published. While many of its themes are already in practice in Europe, highlights include:
