SocGen and JP Morgan earn top billing in retail rankings

Funding spreads gave some banks a competitive edge in 2013, but going forward competition for retail wallets will focus on service and support, says consultancy

Societe Generale (SG) has risen to become the top bank for retail structured products in Europe and JP Morgan is the most recognised name in the US, according to a survey that asked distributors which banks they consider important and how they rate their products and service. HSBC is the top-ranked US bank while SG tied with BNP Paribas in Europe for quality, a composite ranking that measures everything from sales to pricing to product liquidity.

The rankings, published by consultancy Greenwich
