Investec's FTSE 100 and RPI plan set to return capital and more

Investec offered a capital-at-risk product in November 2008 based on the UK retail price index, but also with a link to the FTSE 100 index. Investors are almost certain to get at least their initial capital back at maturity

The November 2008 issue of Structured Products featured an analysis of the Investec FTSE 100 and RPI Combination Plan 2, one of a series of nine products that Investec issued between September 2008 and September 2009. The product was similar to traditional reverse convertibles, but instead of fixed coupons, the annual payments are indexed using the UK Retail Price Index as the reference level.

Capital repayment was linked to the performance of the FTSE 100 index and the product included a 50%
