Morabanc takes safety-first message beyond southern Europe

Andorran bank Morabanc has traditionally catered to risk-averse investors in southern Europe, but it is now taking its business model further afield. Head of structured products Ferran Vila tells Jonathan López how foreign private banking clients look to the principality for a safe financial environment

A bank based in Andorra, with its population of just 80,000, has to look for investors beyond the principality's borders if it is to expand. That is exactly what Morabanc has done in recent years by opening new offices in Zurich, Miami, Montevideo and, more recently, Dubai, says Ferran Vila, head of structured products at the bank.
