Iosco issues regulatory “toolkit” for retail structured products

Complex retail structured products are the subject of the latest consultation report from the international body of securities regulators

Regulatory approaches towards structured products remain remarkably consistent across jurisdictions, a report published by a group of national securities regulators shows.

In a survey of 26 jurisdictions conducted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (Iosco), all but two say they regulate what issuers may say in marketing material. Twenty out of 26 regulators enjoy product intervention powers of some kind, while 22 require firms to check that financial products are
