Managers holding out for US election and rate decisions

Hedge fund strategies have struggled of late, so managers are waiting to see what happens in America before selecting strategies to trade

Performance continues to be difficult for most hedge strategies, according to Hedge Fund Review's monthly survey of fund of funds managers.

Uncertainty and a lack of volatility and market trends have caused paralysis in some areas, bringing attention on niche strategies.

Experienced managers have taken defensive positions to preserve capital, although management fees and agency costs alone have seen many lose money, according to Randall Dillard, a partner at Liongate Capital Management.
