Distributors in the UK are getting anxious about increased regulatory pressure. The Financial Services Authority (FSA), for example, has already fined Santander £1.5 million for launching products that were not in line with its requirements.

"It's all becoming more difficult to cope with," says one London-based distributor. "The first quarter of the year has been extremely difficult because distributors are hesitant to launch any product or service that might be difficult to integrate with
